A BELSTONE family are on their way from moor to Med by bike.

The Whitmarsh family will set off on July 15 to ride more than 1,500 kilometres from Belstone to Sete, a pretty fishing port on the Mediterranean in the South of France.

Dad Andy will be cycling with George, 18, and Tom, 15, taking a route from Roscoff to Bordeaux. Then they will head towards Toulouse and the cycle path that runs beside the Canal du Midi to the Mediterranean at Sete. They will be camping as they go and hope to arrive at the finishing point by late July or early August. They will be raising money for the Children’s rugby charity The Wooden Spoon, which supports a number of local charity projects.

Mum Julie, of Dartmoor Silver Designs, is offering two of her pieces to the highest bidder to help the effort. There is a Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/moortomedbybike
