A MEMBER of Okehampton Cycling Club has been killed in South America during a charity cycling trip. Sharon Bridgman, aged 38, died after she was hit by a van while travelling through Bolivia with her husband Tim. The couple had been cycling from Norway since June 2012 and had already visited Europe and Africa. They were hoping to raise more than £10,000 for the disaster aid charity ShelterBox. The couple were due to return to the UK in a matter of weeks for the wedding of friend Andrew Bowyer. Police in Bolivia told the Associated Press that Mrs Bridgman was involved in an accident near Bolivia's border with Chile. Her body has been flown to the Bolivian capital La Paz ahead of its repatriation to the UK.
