DARTMOOR’S economy is set for a boost as £2-million worth of funding is open for applications from businesses and community projects.
The DR Company in Okehampton — a not for profit organisation providing services to support rural projects and businesses — is inviting businesses and community projects to apply for money from the Greater Dartmoor Local Enterprise Action Fund (LEAF) 2015-2020.
The DR Company has £2-million of funding for allocation in the Greater Dartmoor LEAF area. Greater Dartmoor LEAF is a partnership originally set up in 2008 to invest in economic, environmental and community-based projects to encourage innovation and promote the prosperity of the Greater Dartmoor area.
Applications are now invited for projects which create jobs and help the rural economy grow, in farming, forestry, enterprise, tourism, rural services and cultural/heritage activities.
The DR Company successfully ran the previous Greater Dartmoor LEAF which ran from 2008-2013 allocating a further £2-million to the Greater Dartmoor area. Funding is now available to eligible applicants from the 2015-2020 programme. The fund will remain open while money is available.
Managing director for the DR Company Liz Abell said: ‘We set up our local strategy based on an intensive period of consultation to establish up-to-date priorities and identify key themes that matter to local people, so that it could meet its objectives of creating jobs and boosting the rural economy.’
