AN?EIGHT-DAY adventure beckons for Chris Cork from Black Torrington when he takes part in the Tuareg Rallye to both fulfil a personal challenge and to raise funds for Children's Hospice South West.

Chris, 40, has been riding motorbikes for many years but has never taken on a challenge on this scale.

The Tuareg Rallye is well known in the rally world and sees hundreds of competitors converging on Moroccan desert terrain in the middle of March to be crowned Rallye champion.

Chris said: 'I love to spend time on my dirt bike, usually just a bit of off roading here and there and generally close to home.

'The Tuareg Rallye is billed as being a starter for those people who want to fulfil dreams of doing the infamous Dakar Rally — having followed the Dakar for many years I think I will stick with the Tuareg!

'I have previously cycled Land's End to John O'Groats to raise money for Children's Hospice South West but wanted to do something a little bit different.

'Being a father myself I felt the Children's Hospice South West would be the perfect choice as my chosen charity.'

Chris expressed thanks to everybody who has helped set up the challenge, from Albion Motorcycles and Rally Raid Products who have helped with equipment for his bike to everyone who follows his blog, friends and family and of course those who have sponsored him for this challenge.

Emma Perry, community fundraiser for Children's Hospice South West thanked Chris for choosing to support CHSW in this incredible way.

She said: 'When I met Chris and we talked about the Rallye it was obvious how hard he is working with his training and how tough the event will be but I am sure he will rise to the challenge and rightly be very proud of his achievements. I look forward to meeting him again to hear how it all went!'
