South Molton U12s 0
Okehampton U12s 7
OKEHAMPTON won again in a mish mash of a game, played on a pitch far too small for the numbers involved. Oke held the upper hand throughout but only crossed the whitewash once.
A shortened game saw the only score come from a typical Greg Daniel charge. Demonstrating a good handle on the game from number eight, he crossed for the games only score, converted by Leon Horn.
Next week the Okes travel to Topsham for a game against a side that sweeps all before it at this level. This will give a real measure of where the Oke boys stand against their peers at this age group.
Bideford U11s 12
Okehampton U11s 45
OKEHAMPTON did not capitalise straight away on the inexperience of their opponents with a short period of slack play but soon tightened up. The scrummaging by the forwards was excellent and Okehampton dominated possession. This allowed James M to surge forward for Oke's first try (not converted).
Bideford gave away a penalty which was seized upon by Okehampton and Will Cran from his half way line, his solo effort allowing him to score for Okehampton — James M converted.
The re-start saw Kai M run down the wing and pass out to Will C gain for another try converted by James M.
Kai was rewarded for his tenacity with his own try shortly afterwards.
Good tackling by Okehampton meant they were able to keep the ball and George D showed his turn of speed by scoring, converted again by James M.
In the second half the home side were first to score and covert, much to the delight of the spectators.
This was followed by two further Okehampton tries both by Kai M and converted by James M. The final play though belonged to Bideford who scored a second well deserved try.
Okehampton U10s Pinks 90
Bideford U10s 0
Okehampton U 10s Violets 40
Bideford U10s 0
A VALIANT Bideford side who showed glimpses of individual talent were put to the sword by the merciless Pinks and Violets who never let up in their quest for victory.
The Pinks side ran in 18 tries, while the Violets ran in eight as both sides cut loose.
Real power upfront in the scrums from Sonny Luxton(1), Cole Pengelly (3), Barnaby Waddell, Joshua McCulloch (1), Jake Laing-Taylor (1) and Daniel Tomkins (1) paved the way for the backs to run the show.
Joshua Burgoyne (6) and Will Cunningham (4) as halfbacks dictated play from start to finish scoring ten tries between them.
Daniel Wonnacot (2), Joshua Parsons(1), Harry Laing-Taylor and Jordan Hill all linked well in attack.
James Close (1), James Stevens (2), George Cox and Saul Holiday (1) all tackled and mauled well turning over ball for the Okes to counter attack.
Both Okehampton sides are now starting to develop an awareness on the pitch of players around them and at times a passing game which will stand them in good stead.
Okehampton U9s 25
Bideford U9s 40
THIS was a fascinating game with swings in play that meant both teams had spells on top. Bideford started strong with some quick rucking and scored first.
It took a while for Okehampton to get to grips with this speed of play and it started to look like it could be a long afternoon.
However, Okehampton fought back with some good drives and mauling (Jay Jenkins and Charlie Jarvis), some excellent tackling (Edward Luke and James Fishleigh) and some weaving runs (Theodore Jackson Clist).
Theodore made some impressive breaks and scored four of Okehampton's tries — Tom Chapman scored a cunning fifth.
Just as it looked like Okehampton could turn the game, Bideford regained the support play that had been key in their early success and scored their final tries to win the match.

Joe Duffy was made captain for the first game and used his rugby knowledge well in the keeping the line straight and the pressure on Bideford.
There were good periods of play especially from Morgan Woods who has made terrific progress this season, overall another great team performance.
