DAVE Goodwin is making an awful lot of incorrect assumptions about my recycling habits; as it happens, I recycle 80-90% of my domestic waste.
That, however, is irrelevant to the discussion of the frankly pathetic saving that WDBC has negotiated on the new refuse collection contract. I repeat — less than a pound per household per month. Did they even haggle, or have they paid 'full list price'?
If Mr Goodwin can see reality from his environmentally friendly ivory tower, I suggest he considers the likely effects of a fortnightly bin bag collection: rats and other vermin, back-garden bonfires and fly-tipping. I'd love to hear how that helps save the planet.
Part of the reason that civilised societies have developed frequent waste collections is to combat such things, and to me the protection of public health is worth more than £11 a year.
