GREEN-fingered children from Chagford School have been doing their bit to make the gardens at Castle Drogo even more beautiful, by taking part in a special bulb planting project.
The Year 5 children and their class teacher Ann Searson spent a day at the castle, enjoying a host of outdoor activities — and planting a great deal of spring flowering bulbs.
Mrs Searson said: 'They really enjoyed the day. We were very lucky with the weather, it was cold but sunny, and the National Trust really did us proud.
'There was a programme of different activities in the woods and the gardens, to draw the children's attention to the wildlife and variety of plants in the garden. It was really well thought out, very active and lots of fun.
'Then in the afternoon we helped plant hundreds of bulbs. It was really lovely, we had a delightful time and afterwards, the children wrote a thank you card and they all had lovely things to say about the day — it was great.'
