I AGREE with Tina Burton’s letter ( Times, March 17) about dogs at Roadford Lake.

About three years ago my wife and I walked round the lake and ended by having a picnic overlooking the water. A lady owner came past with her dog running loose, including around us. I asked her if she had seen the notices about keeping dogs on leads and she said she had, so I asked why her dog was not on a lead. She said everybody does it, and when I said that does not make it right, she walked off muttering something.

I later wrote to Roadford Lake authority to inform, not complain, and received a sympathetic reply saying it is a difficult thing to control with limited staff.
