A ROYAL seal of approval was given to a quilt made to raise money for the charity Rapid UK at the opening of its new headquarters in Gloucestershire.
The centre for the international rescue charity, which was founded in Okehampton, was opened by the Duke of Gloucester, who is president of Rapid UK, and on display was the quilt made by the West Bridge Quilters.
Rapid UK Supporters South West were introduced to the Duke, including Geraldine Jury from Sourton, who said: 'The Duke, ambassadors and other lords and ladies all wanted to know the history of the quilt and I was able to tell them how the West Bridge Quilters have made quilts for other charities.
'It was a pleasure to be able to tell them about the fantastic work the group does.'
The quilt is being raffled. There is still time to buy a ticket — contact Geraldine on 01837 861414.
