A LITTLE girl from Okehampton has been singing her heart out as the youngest member of a virtual choir assembled by Exeter’s Northcott Theatre during lockdown.
Mirabelle Beagent, eight, took part in auditions to perform a lockdown anthem created by theatre composer Thomas Johnson with 35 other singers.
Mum Jessica Beagent said: ‘Mirabelle is a student at South Tawton Primary School and is missing it a lot but she absolutely loved being part of this, it gave her something to focus on.’
As the youngest one in the project, Mirabelle appeared on Radio Devon talking about the song.
She said: ‘My mummy showed me the link, she found it on the Northcott Theatre website, and she said would you like to go into this choir, and I was like “of course I would!”.
‘I sing a lot. I’ve been singing for three years now. I have a singing teacher Louise Mott, she’s been teaching me for two years.
‘When I was doing the song, I’d practise with her every single day and then practise with mummy.’
Drawn from reflections on lockdown from people across the South West, When All This Is Over is sung by people across the region who have never met. When Exeter Northcott reopens, the choir will come together to sing the anthem live on stage marking a special moment when audiences and performers can meet for a live experience once more.
