AN exhibition and sale of work by a Belstone artist takes place in the village next week.

Joyce Kastner (1922-2011), who painted under her maiden name of Lillingston (JOML), lived and worked in Belstone for many years, producing images of the moor she adored, and exquisite miniatures.

She also travelled widely and painted the boats, coastlines, countryside and flora she encountered.

She sold many of these paintings over the years for charity and it was one of her final wishes that the remaining canvases should be offered for sale to raise funds for Belstone Village Hall.

The exhibition and sale of several hundred works, some framed, many unframed and some unfinished, will take place in the hall between 10.30am and 5.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, August 18 and 19.

Refreshments will be available throughout each day.
