PEOPLE from Moretonhampstead and the surrounding area are being invited to visit Moretonhampstead Hospital to find out more about services that will be provided there in the future. The hospital's clinical teams and healthcare managers from the Northern, Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group and Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust will be on hand on four days in September and October to show people around and answer any questions they may have. Over the past six months the NHS has been working in partnership with members of the local community to develop a new model of care for the people of Moretonhampstead, including a health and social care hub at the hospital. To allow for in-depth and productive conversations, Tour and Talk sessions will be provided by appointment only, for four to six people at any one time and will last approximately 90 minutes. During the tour sessions, people can meet clinicians who are working at the hospital and the community, meet members of the senior clinical and management team overseeing the project, tour the hospital and discuss future opportunities for it, and share any comments about healthcare in the Moretonhampstead area. Dr Alex Degan, a GP from Mid Devon and chair of the Eastern Locality of Northern, Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group, said: 'It has been great to see such a high level of interest from local people about the future of Moretonhampstead Hospital. 'Over the past year or so we have attended council meetings and public events where people have helped us to develop exciting ideas for how we can use the much-loved community hospital in the future. 'I hope people will take the opportunity to continue this conversation by booking an appointment to tour the hospital and talk to clinicians and managers about the services that are provided at the hospital now and in the future. 'We are also planning to hold drop-in sessions in Chagford and Cheriton Bishop and a public meeting in Moretonhampstead in the autumn.' The tour and talk sessions will run at various times on Monday, September 29, Thursday October 2, Tuesday October 7 and Friday, October 10.
