EASTER came early for those in attendance at the Home-Start Okehampton open day, which took place on April 16.

The open day invited the community to learn more about this local charity, which offers support, friendship and practical help to local families with at least one child under the age of five.

Families currently receiving support from Home-Start enjoyed a morning of Easter-related entertainment, including an Easter egg hunt and a children's entertainer.

Trustees and volunteers were on hand to share their experiences with those who dropped in.

Louise Bol, co-ordinator for Home-Start Okehampton, said: 'It was a great day.

'All the families who came along had great fun with the activities.

'But the day was also about promoting the charity, and encouraging volunteers and trustees to come along.

'In that respect the day was a definite success, as we had a new trustee who popped into the open day.'

Home-Start Okehampton is always keen to recruit new trustees and volunteers to help them continue their much-needed work to help support local families.
