AFTER the success of last year's event, staff at Okeford Veterinary Centre have announced they are holding a family dog show in Simmons Park on Sunday, June 1. This year's show will hold fun classes such as best puppy, best crossbreed, prettiest bitch, most handsome dog, best rescue dog, best movement, most appealing eyes, dog with the waggiest tail, best veteran and dog the judge would most like to take home. All classes will cost £1 with entries taken in the ring and rosettes will be awarded to the winners and runners up. There will also be a refreshments stall, tombola and stands from local businesses. Judging starts at 1pm, and all proceeds will go to Dartmoor View Dog Rescue. The non-profit making animal charity's sole aim is to rescue and re-home abandoned or unwanted dogs within the South West. Since being established over 18 months ago they have re-homed more than 100 dogs of various breeds. The charity's success is due to the devotion of all the volunteers who run the centre with funding from donations and fundraising events.
