TWO pubs in Okehampton are laying down the gauntlet for people to join the action at the St George's Challenge Fun Day on Sunday, April 26.
Organised by the Plymouth Inn and the King's Arms, the event in Simmons Park promises to be a real fun day for all the family and proceeds raised will go to Okehampton Primary School.
Emma Bass, the landlady of the King's Arms, told the Times: 'Last year we raised £768 and this year, monies raised will go towards new playing equipment for the school.
'It's a real fun event for all the family to enjoy and we hope to raise more money than last year for such a good cause.'
On the day, which starts at 2pm, there will be inflatables, It's-a-Knockout, tug-of-war and even a spot of 'Dwyle Flunking'
For the uninitiated in this 16th century game, Dwyle Flunking involves two teams of 12 players, who take turns to twirl around each other in Morris dancing-like fashion and try to avoid being hit by a beer soaked cloth or sponge.
To add to the merriment, there will also be a giant size, human table football competition.
Organisers are looking for teams of five at £1 per person to take part in the competition.
Entry forms can be found at the King's Arms or Plymouth Inn or for more details call Emma on 01837 52809.
On Thursday, April 23, the Plymouth Inn will be giving £1 towards the fundraising from every St George's Day breakfast it sells.
