A GROUP of Okehampton Running Club ladies who joined forces to raise money for charity has raised more than £3,000 as a team — and all set personal best times in the process.
The ladies — Keri Quertier, Jo Camies, Cathy Carey, Abby Williams, Abby Metherell, Tracey Mills and Karen Vallance — all ran marathons in April. On April 12, Keri, Jo and Cathy all completed the Brighton Marathon while on April 26, the two Abbys, Karen and Tracey were in the capital to run the Virgin London Marathon. For Abby Williams, the run was her first ever marathon.
After all being asked individually if they were being sponsored they decided to team up to make fundraising easier and supported two great local causes as a team — FORCE cancer charity and the Exeter Leukaemia Fund.
The team has raised £2,797 so far, including gift aid and with match funding of £1,000 to come, the girls will have raised nearly £4,000 as a team.
Keri Quertier said: 'We were blown away by the amount that has been raised and would like to thank everyone for their support and putting their hands in their pockets.'
