VEGETABLE farmers Richard and Ruth Kelsey (above) from Petrockstowe have been voted the customers' favourite in North Devon for their farmers' market stall.

The couple, who run Hallwood Fresh Veg, were thrilled to receive the North Devon Plus 'Best Farmers' Market Stall' at a glittering ceremony at Filleigh near South Molton.

Customers across North Devon were asked to vote for their favourite market stall and the Kelseys are regulars at both Okehampton and Bideford farmers' markets. North Devon Plus used to be known as the North Devon Marketing Bureau.

Richard Kelsey said: 'We always take large amounts of our home-grown produce to the markets in order to make a strong visual display.

'We love the atmosphere of the markets and enjoy talking to our customers about our vegetables and how we farm.'

The couple also run a vegetable box scheme, delivering to the doorstep and keep customers up to date with 'goings-on' on the farm with newsletters, plus they send out recipe cards.

Okehampton Farmers' Market is held around St James' Church in Fore Street every third Saturday, the next being on December 20.
