A RESTORATION project on a 400-year-old Devon farmhouse has been nominated for a top award for the quality of the renovation.

The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors has selected a house at Coombe Farm near Jacobstowe as a contender in the building conservation category.

The restoration work was carried out by specialist conservation architects Robert Seymour and Associates from South Devon.

Entrants for the award are required to show particular attention to background research, the materials and techniques used, and the long term prospects of the project.

A total of 26 award entries have been received in the South West region, a strong number, given the current difficult climate in the construction sector.
