Chagford 0

Feniton 7

CHAGFORD's miserable run of results, since the turn of the year, continued with an absolutely horrendous show against lowly Feniton.

Make no mistake, the visitors have improved tremendously since Chagford hammered them earlier in the season but the hosts seemed to have nothing to offer on the day. This after much pre-match work had taken place just to get the match on.

The rot set in as early as the third minute when Charlie Senney was allowed to pick his shot from the edge of the home area, the ball then nestling in the bottom corner of their net.

Chagford gradually worked their way back but looked all too vunerable in their defence and midfield. Feniton played three front men as one, or another, midfielder swept forward at every opportunity. Then came a seven minute purple patch for the visitors but a horror show for their hosts when Danny Lewis scored with a tap-in from a low driven cross. A Chagford player then helped the ball into his own net, following a melee, for the third.

Paul Dowling fired in Feniton's fourth when breaking forward after a home attack broke down. Half an hour gone and it was all over as far as the home side were concerned. Frustration showed as a couple of quick bookings ensued from needless fouling of opposition players.

Chagford did try to lift their game but were thankful for a tremendous save from Luscombe just before the break, preventing a fifth.

Chagford changes in the second half did little to improve things as they went on to concede a further three goals. Senney bagged two more for a deserved hat-trick and Austin netted a single. The result drops Chagford to seventh, with even longer odds on promotion at the first time of asking.
