TICKETS to meet filmmakers at this year's Chagford Film Festival are proving so popular they have been selling out within hours of going on sale. Tickets to meet and see the work of the world famous puppet builders and artists Wendy and Toby Froud, known for work on Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, and William Todd-Jones sold out within six hours of going on sale. The festival has reacted to the demand and announced the filmmakers will stage a second event. Sara Squire, Chagford Film Festival fundraising co-ordinator, said: 'It is fantastic for the festival to be getting this level of attention from local and national audiences so quickly after tickets going on sale. 'Last year's festival was hugely successful in giving people of all ages unique opportunities to see films and get involved in a whole range of different film activities. 'The take-up in 2014 by people wanting to come has been so fast that we now need to set up additional performances or events. It is a nice problem to have, and a compliment to what we have achieved over the last four years and aim to build on in years to come.' Wendy and son Toby Froud together with William Todd-Jones will stage the additional workshop on Friday, September 26 at 2pm. Toby Froud's first short Lessons Learned will screen on Thursday, September 25. There is also another chance to meet Wendy and her husband Brian on Thursday September 25 at 2pm in the Globe Inn where they'll be signing copies of their new book, 'Faeries' Tales'. They are also happy to sign copies of their back copies and urge film fans to bring editions along. The Saturday night finale is set to be a spectacular event with street theatricals and music as the festival celebrates the 25th anniversary of the first Batman movie. As well as screening the film, William Todd-Jones, who worked on this classic with Tim Burton, will show off the original Batman cloak worn by Michael Keaton. The Batmobile itself will be making a zany entrance and cruising around the town looking for those renowned super-villains. There will be prizes for folks dressing up as their favourite superhero and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to have your photo taken with the iconic car.
