PEOPLE can get advice on how to avoid devastating fires in the home at the West Devon Connect outreach scheme this summer.  The free information service, co-ordinated by West Devon Borough Council, will be visiting rural communities throughout July.

Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service will be joining the event in Hatherleigh to offer some residents a home fire safety visit.  Some people may be eligible for a free smoke alarm.

Charity Action on Hearing Loss will also be visiting some venues to help people worried about their hearing.  In addition, there will be specialist advice for unpaid carers at certain locations. A Citizens Advice Bureau representative will be on hand in Hatherleigh to give advice and information to everyone.

A West Devon Borough Council customer service advisor will host each event along with representatives from a range of public services and organisations.
