THE small pleasures in life are the subject of the first competition of the season at Okehampton Camera Club's next meeting on Monday.

But the competition will not be judged by a guest from another club — members are keeping the event in-house and will be judging the winner themselves.

Club spokesman Tracey Norman said it promised to be an interesting and challenging evening.

'We haven't judged our own images before so it will be good to put ourselves in the judge's shoes to see what competitions are like from their viewpoint. I am sure it will make us look at our work in a whole new light,' she said.

This season the club is offering an associate membership for the first time, at £20.

Tracey said: 'The associate membership has been designed for people who want to come to meetings but don't want to enter competitions.'

The club meets every other Monday at 7.30pm at the church hall in Market Street.
