PUPILS, families, staff and friends of Exbourne Primary School will hold a barbecue party to say goodbye to their headteacher, Celia West.

Mrs West, who has taught and managed the village school for the last 14 years, will retire at the end of this summer term.

During her time at the school there have been many changes and improvements, most notably the acquisition of The School House, leading to extra classrooms, a staffroom and a space for a library.

Mrs West also arranged and accompanied older pupils on annual residential trips and encouraged numerous visits, visitors and events throughout each academic year while continuing to form and encourage strong links with the local community.

To mark the occasion and to say thank you for her hard work, dedication and commitment, the parents' association and governors are holding a barbecue party at the school.

The barbecue will be held on Sunday, July 18 from 4pm untill 7pm at Exbourne Primary School.
