GIDLEIGH Park at Chagford has been named as a runner-up in the Rémy Martin XO Excellence Awards – which highlight the overall best restaurants across the UK.

The award is as a result of painstaking analysis of the survey of 8,000 restaurant-goers for the publication of the Harden's UK Restaurant Guide 2010.

Gidleigh Park is described in the guide as 'an outstanding experience in a wonderful setting with sublime food and one of the best wine lists in the country'.

The Rémy Martin XO Excellence Award is for the best all-round restaurant and aims to identify the creme de la creme in the UK restaurant scene.

The winner was Ludlow restaurant Mr Underhill's.
