ON Saturday at Okehampton Golf Club in lovely conditions competitors took part in a four ball better ball medal for the Charles Pedrick Shield.
Winners of division one and the Charles Pedrick Shield with a net 59 were Gareth Holt and Lee Pengelly; second were Dave Harwood and Matt Soby with a net 60; in third place were Nick Godfrey and Fred Cooke net 61. Winners of division two were Vince Floyd and Chris Ball with a net 60 from Graham Pengelly and Nick Atkinson in second place; in third place were Steve Browne and Adrian Rice with a net 62.
Woodbury Park was a very busy place on August 23 as 98 pairs of ladies played in the North and East county foursomes, to win the prestigious Western Morning News Cup which Okehampton won in 2009.
Nine teams from Okehampton took part this year. Marcia Jones and Marcia Guy played exceptionally well scoring 36 points in wet and windy conditions. This was the best pairs score and they won the overall winners prize. Okehampton lost the cup by just one point which was a good defence, it was won by Woodbury Park and East Devon.
Pam Jarman and Cherry James contested the final of the knockout Rose Bowl Trophy, which has been running all summer. This was a very close fought battle with Cherry winning the match on the 17th hole.
