ANY sports clubs in the West Devon area can receive crucial advice on a range of issues affecting such organisations at a free club support evening in Okehampton next month. The OCRA Pavilion in the Park will host the event on May 22, specifically aimed at supporting sports clubs and organisations within the West Devon area. The event will start at 6pm with refreshments and the chance to talk to Active Devon staff and other local sports contacts. The evening will run to a schedule with the opportunity for networking and the chance to take part in workshops. The first presentation of the night will be on Active Devon programmes, and how local clubs can get involved and be assisted in developing their own activities. There will then be two workshops to choose from, which have been put together following a response to requests from clubs and organisations. The first is focused on funding, and providing an overview of where to find funding and how to improve chances of successful grant applications. The second looks at increasing participation amongst women and girls – providing ideas on how to attract more female participants, and where to get help to put on activities to bring in new members. Active Devon staff will also be around at 8pm after the workshops for clubs to talk to, and get specific help. Attendees are asked to book their free place at http://www.activedevon.org/clubsupport">www.activedevon.org/clubsupport or contact the Active Devon office on 01392 263674. Active Devon would be delighted to welcome all sports clubs and organisations to the event, and it is all absolutely free!
