A CAT missing for two days was rescued by Okehampton Fire Brigade after it was found stuck down a chimney in the town.

It took 50 minutes and six firefighters to bring the feline back down to safety, after it got stuck at the top of the chimney.

Firefighter Richard Colman said: 'It was quite a difficult job but pretty worthwhile.

'We actually got to put into action some skills that don't get to be used very often, so it was good for us to do it.'

The cat was unhurt and taken to Okeford Veterinary Centre were it was reunited with its owners after being checked.

The centre said: 'It was a bit hungry but apart from that, absolutely fine and glad to go home.'
