FAIRPLACE Church, Okehampton, was full of tasty treats last Thursday, as the Fairplace Wives and Friends' Group held a 'Great Fairplace Cake Bake'.

Members baked their favourite cakes and everyone voted for their first and second choices after sampling the goodies on offer.

The winner was Mrs Pat Patridge for her fresh lemon curd cake, with Mrs Myrtle Letchford taking second place for her raspberry and white chocolate brownies.

The wives and friends' group meets alternate Thursday evenings in the school room of Fairplace Church. At their next meeting, they will be packing shoeboxes with Christmas gifts on behalf of the Operation Christmas Child appeal. Any ladies who wish to join the group will be welcome.
