WHEN it comes to finding a sponsor Merton and district Football Club can more than count on '18 carrot' support from a local company.

The North Devon intermediate one side have unearthed Petrockstowe firm Hallwood Fresh Veg to sponsor their strip.

Richard and Ruth Kelsey who run the farm were honoured to provide funding for the new kit bearing the farm's 'carrot' logo.

The couple said 'We supply our vegetables and meat to many local people, employ our staff from our local area and are only too pleased to support such an enthusiastic, committed team of our local sportsmen.'

There are close connections between the team and the farm with some of the players having carried out their school 'work experience' at the farm and one young player, Luke Ashton is a valued regular part time employee at Hallwood.

No doubt the Merton FC will dig a bit deeper this Saturday —although rumour has it they have the advantage in darker conditions!
