OKEHAMPTON Hospital bid a fond farewell to matron Wendy Bellamy on Saturday, who is leaving the hospital after five faithful years of service.

Wendy is leaving Okehampton Hospital to take up a post at Frome Community Hospital in Somerset.

The Friends of Okehampton Hospital paid tribute to Wendy at their coffee morning on Saturday.

Chairman of the Friends of Okehampton Hospital Martin Perry said: 'Wendy has been a great asset to the hospital, and was a real breath of fresh air when she joined us five years ago.

'From all the staff to the Friends, we are all very sorry to see her go.

'She leaves a much improved hospital in a good state with very high staff morale.

'She has always been incredibly supportive of the Friends of Okehampton Hospital group.

'Not only did she attend each of our committee meetings, but she joined us on the streets rattling a tin to collect money.

'No-one could have been more helpful.

'During her time here she has made many friends and we are all very sad that she is leaving.

'We all wish her the best of luck, and thank her for her wonderful service to Okehampton Community Hospital.'
