THE RUSSIAN ballet is coming live to an Okehampton cinema —thanks to the wonders of the world's most advanced 3D technology.
Swan Lake 3D live is being beamed live from St Petersburg's world famous Mariinsky Theatre directly to the audience at the New Carlton Cinema, Okehampton, at 6.15pm on Thursday, June 6.
They will be joining cinema goers from more than 50 countries around the globe and in almost 200 UK cinemas to be part for this milestone moment in ballet history.
This presentation of Swan Lake, Tchaikovsky's glorious masterpiece, will be the first ballet to use the Academy Award-winning technology for films, including 'Avatar.' 'Hugo' and 'Life of Pi.'
Mariinsky director Valery Gergiev, who will conduct the performance, said: 'As we know, visually, ballet is such a thrilling experience and 3D just makes it even more spectacular than anything we could do before.'
Prima ballerina Ekaterina Kondaurova will dance the dual roles of Odette and Odile while there is also a part for Xander Parish, the first British dancer to join the Mariinsky Ballet.
