FORTY-seven teams battled it out at the 15th Okehampton and District Lions Club golf day recently and raised £7,500 for the Children's Hospice South West.
The teams competed for a prize fund of almost £2,000 on Okehampton Golf Course and there was also a grand draw won by Robert Barkwell.
Winners of the golf competition were: M Curtis, D Owen, E Rees and L Pengelly with 84 points who received green fees and buggies for St Mellion Golf Club in East Cornwall.
Second prize consisting of green fees and meals at the Oaks Championship Course at Woodbury near Exeter went to K Cornwall, D Bickle, A Clark and Adam Clark.
Third prize went to B Moore, S Olford, M Worthing and M Gazzard who won green fees, buggies and meals at Trethorne Golf Club near Launceston.
Area fundraising representative for Children's Hospice Emma Perry was presented with a cheque during the evening.
The Lions have expressed thanks to all the main sponsors, draw prize donaters and supporters of the event and especially Okehampton Golf Club staff, who made the day a great success.
Next year the event, for the same cause, will be held on September 2.
