THE town is gearing up to show off its talents and wares for the second Okehampton Festival in July — and organisers are calling for people wanting to be involved.

Following last year's hit festival, organisers are now busy preparing to make this year's event equally as successful.

The festival will be a celebration of locally sourced food, drink, folk music, dance and sport as well as encouraging the use of local shops.

The WI will be holding a 'Great Cream Tea' event in the Charter Hall all day with a competition to make the best Devon Split, there will be a children's cooking event and it is hoped music at the event will include the BigSing, choirs and bagpipes.

Vickie Mills, of Okehampton Slimming World and member of the chamber of trade, said: 'This is a local event celebrating the local community. After the success of last year's event, we are really looking forward to celebrating Okehampton's food, folk and culture within the town this year.'

Organisers are now looking for local craftspeople, food producers or anyone who would like to hold a stall at the festival on July 5.
