A WOMAN from Okehampton has praised the staff at Okehampton Community Hospital for the level of treatment she received during two recent stays there.

In early September, Edna Hicks was admitted to the hospital following great pain in her hips. It was soon discovered she would need hip replacement surgery.

After having the surgery in Exeter, she was re-admitted to Okehampton Hospital for her initial recovery period.

During her two stays at the hospital, Edna said she was was bowled over by the level of care she received.

She said: 'The care I had at Okehampton Hospital was second to none. After I went to Exeter and came back to Okehampton, it felt like I was coming home, it was that welcoming.

'The way that the staff, including everyone from the nurses to the cleaners, care for the patients down there, is excellent.

'Nothing is ever too much trouble. The food, the service, everything was excellent.

The nurses and everyone work together as a team, and it shows.

'There are difficult patients they have to deal with, like I admittedly was when I first went in. Yet they give everyone the same care and attention, and it is wonderful to see.

'I have spoken to other people about it, and they have all said the same. Hospitals get so much negative press these days, it is good to see one doing such a good job.'
