THE annual Fairhaven Grass Keep Sale at Whiddon Down for Mr and Mrs C F Scott by Rendells of Chagford last Thursday once again set the marker for other sales in the area with a top of £285 an acre for the largest lot of the night at 14.23 acres, and an average of £232 per acre.
The auctioneers said although the lack of grass was evident here as everywhere else, its attraction was that it was well managed, fertilised, fenced and watered, with good road access — and that attracted buyers back each year.
