THE wearing of the green proved a winner for two families in one of the top West Devon village carnivals last Saturday.
The Watkins and White families won the prize for best local float in South Zeal carnival with their entry, 'The Luck of the Irish'.
From tots to teens the pleasures of fancy dress provided a treasure chest of ideas for colourful costumes — from scenes of warriors bold, adventures with lions, witches and wardrobes, music-making heroes and characters galore to take part in the early afternoon procession.
And entries to the village show staged in the Victory Hall as a new addition to carnival day proved popular, as did the grand evening procession.
