THE spirit of the Irish was in Bridestowe last Saturday, at the latest fundraiser for the Exeter Leukaemia Fund.
ELF's Okehampton Supporter Group held a fun St Patrick's evening party at Bridestowe Village Hall, with guests dressing up in green, enjoying a tipple at the bar and music from a ceilidh band.
John Barton, chairman of the support group, said: 'The evening was very good and a successful night, thoroughly enjoyed by all who came along.
'We don't have a final figure yet, but considering it was the first time the event has been held we think it will have done well.
'Caroline Harris, the group's vice chair, organised the event by herself, and it is a great credit to her that it has gone so well. It is a very good way to start the year, and we hope it is the first of many successful events for ELF in 2012.'
The group has a number of fundraisers planned for this year, including a clay pigeon shoot, and the annual charity dog show, which last year raised over £1,000.
