OKEHAMPTON Baptist Church is celebrating harvest this weekend by highlighting the work of the charity Tools With A Mission.

Anyone with unwanted or unused tools can bring them along to the Baptist Church on Saturday September 17 between 10am and 2pm, or the Sunday harvest service at the church the following day at 11am.

Tools that are especially needed will be on the church notice board.

There will be a display in the church showing the work of TWAM. Groups around the country restore and repair tools donated to them before they are sent to charity headquarters in Ipswich. Once packaged they are sent abroad, mainly to countries in Africa where they are distributed to those in need.

When the tools are donated, the young men receiving them are taught a trade that enables them to find a job.

Young women are given sewing machines and shown how to use them, not only learning how to make clothes for their families but learning a skill that will help them later in life.

Tea and coffee will be available for those who visit the display.
