A GROUP of nine-year-old boys — aka ‘The Dream Team’ —who won third prize in the walking float in the recent Hatherleigh Carnival have donated their winnings to BBC’s Children In Need.
The ‘Dream Team’ was an idea originally dreamt up by Oscar Brown who talked to all his football mad friends at school who turned it into reality.
The Dream Team was a spoof of famous footballers and included Wayne Rooney as Shrek (Jassem Labib), Chewy Suarez (Oscar Brown), Maradona and the hand of God (Rory Hopkins), Jamie Vardy having a party (Elliott Tucker), I love myself aka Cristiano Ronaldo (Taylor Quick), Joe Hart missing goals (Barney Burgess) and not forgetting the referee (Lewis Lethbridge). They even had manager mum and a coach.
The boys worked hard to get all their costumes ready and with help from family and friends created a beautiful Dream Team banner.
During the procession they blew whistles and vuvuzelas, giving out red cards to spectators along the way and scoring goals as they went.
This year the judging was tough but The Dream Team got a well-deserved third place and were delighted with their win.
The boys unanimously made the decision to give their winnings to Children in Need which made all their parents and grandparents very proud.
