EMPLOYEES at Okehampton's Heinz frozen and chilled foods' site have raised money for their nominated charity this year.

An annual donation of £2,500 has been donated from the Heinz Charitable Trust to Macmillan Cancer Support.

In addition to this, the team at Okehampton has held a 35-year celebration event and took part in the Macmillan Greatest Coffee morning across all three shifts at the plant, raising an additional £1,300.

The funds were matched by the company and raised a total amount of £5,045.

Human resources manager from Heinz in Okehampton Julie Dunn also raised a further £600 for each of Macmillan and Exeter Leukaemia funds through sponsorship and matched funding for the Exeter Night Walk held back in April.

Julie Dunn said: 'This is a wonderful amount the Okehampton Heinz team has raised.

'Macmillan works to improve the lives of those people affected by cancer and all of our income comes from the generosity of the public. '
