THE vocal and instrumental skills of youngsters at Shebbear College and its junior school were on show as the school hosted the 33rd North Devon Performing Arts Festival recently.

The school played host to the vocal and instruments sections of the festival, organised and administered by Fiona Goode from the junior school. Many of the performers on show were from the school.

Among many prizes received, the junior school choir won their class and were awarded the The Lyn Shield for a tenth year running.

The senior school entered two choirs with over 60 voices and performed a variety of numbers.

Students were pleased to be highly commended and each chorister received a festival medal.

Violinist Edward Tai was awarded best young musician, while cellist Henry Cornish was awarded the Lloyds Bank Trophy for the most promising musician under the age of 18.
