THE results for the December Waitrose Community Matters grant awards were as follows: Hospiscare raised a grand total of £659, followed by £173 for Soundwaves South West and Rainbow Pre-School, who made £168.
Waitrose marketing and customer service manager Julia Morley said: 'It's a fantastic result and we are really pleased. We hope the organisations this month do just as well.'
The nominees for this month are Okehampton Otters Swimming and Lifesaving Club, Okehampton St John Ambulance Cadets and Okehampton Parish Church Hall.
Community Matters is a scheme whereby Waitrose customers are given tokens at the till, which can be used to vote for one of three deserving local good causes.
The tokens are posted into one of three clear plastic containers, so customers can see during the month how they are mounting up.
