THE Friends of Okehampton Community Hospital will visit South Zeal this weekend to raise funds for the hospital.

The group is holding a coffee morning in the Victory Hall on Saturday, May 18.

Friends chairman Martin Perry said: 'It is a long time since we had an event in South Zeal but I am sure it will be a huge success. The committee are working hard to man stalls with all kinds of preserves, handicrafts, books, cakes and white elephants. We would, of course, welcome donations from the village too.

'We have spent a good deal of money on hospital equipment lately that some say should have been funded by the NHS, but at the end of the day we either fund it or the hospital does without and our concern is for the patients. I know South Zeal will think the same and will come along to support us.'

The hall opens at 10.30am and the raffle will be drawn between noon and 12.30pm.
