GIDLEIGH Park Hotel near Chagford is hosting a coffee morning on September 10 with a garden tour to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines will be using local produce to create homemade cakes and biscuits which guests will be able to enjoy in the drawing room or in the grounds.

Damien Bastiat, general manager said: 'We are looking forward to making as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support and helping people affected by cancer.'

Macmillan fundraising manager for Mid East and South Devon, Angela Lowe said: 'The idyllic setting of Gidleigh Park makes a wonderful venue for a coffee morning, it is however so isolated, and highlights the need for Macmillan's online services.

'Macmillan's vision is that we're there for everyone affected by cancer, so that no one has to face cancer alone. The coffee mornings hosted and attended around Devon help us raise the vital funds which we are reliant upon.'

Macmillan Cancer Support is the hotel's charity of the month. The remote setting of the hotel and of houses on Dartmoor demonstrates the importance of the services offered by Macmillan. Over the phone and online advice and support provided by Macmillan is vital for those diagnosed with cancer that live in remote areas, who may otherwise feel isolated and alone.

Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee morning encourages communities to come together for a fun and sociable event while raising funds for Macmillan.
