AN Okehampton physiotherapist has scooped a creativity and innovation award at an NHS awards ceremony.

Amy Souster, who works in the Okehampton and Hatherleigh area, was presented with the award at NHS Devon's annual meeting.

Chairman of NHS Devon's provider services committee, Clive Robertson, said: 'Amy has brought physiotherapy exercise groups into the villages of a rural practice, working single-handed and with no previous model to follow.

'There has been a very positive response from local people and Amy's work has helped towards preventing falls.'

The creativity and innovation award is for an individual or team that has helped develop innovative health or social care services for the benefit of local people.

Ten awards were up for grabs and the winners were nominated by the public and then chosen by fellow NHS colleagues.
