MACMILLAN Cancer Support's Chagford committee is joining in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning this week – and chairman Shirley Spalding is urging local people to come along.

The committee's 'cup cake' coffee morning is taking place at Endecott House, Chagford tomorrow (Friday) from 10am. Everyone is invited to join Shirley and her colleagues for some cake and a cuppa and to browse some stalls to help raise a national total of £8.3 million.

Shirley said: 'Macmillan is a fantastic charity and we hope to raise lots of smiles and money to help fund its vital cancer services — Macmillan has recently embarked on a £2-million programme of investment in new services and projects in Devon.

'While our committee has decided on a 'cup cake' theme for our World's Biggest Coffee Morning this year, I want local people to know that there is still time to register to hold your own event — the charity hope that a record 1,000 Devonians will host a coffee gathering this year, large or small.'

Around the UK over two million people are expected to take part in the event with Devon events raising perhaps as much as £150,000.
