FATHER and son Richard and George Nye from North Tawton returned from the ISKA South WEST kicboxing championship Yeovil with two trophies. The pair both train at the Tiger style Sports Karate Club in Exeter.
George fought in the under 5ft 2ins advanced section. The youngster started stongly scoring the first 3 points was caught out by some good kicks losing this closely matched fight. George then found his feet winning his next fight 17-2 pts with good hook kicks to the head. George then fought in the final of light continious section with heavy kicks and punches to earn silver.
Dad Richard, aged 45, found himself fighting a fighter 20 years his junior in the open weight over 75kg section . He lost out in a close incounter to the gold medal winner. Richard then went on to the fight off again to a fighter 20 years his junior winning this encounter with some great kicks and punches.
