OKEHAMPTON resident Katy Graves, who is training for a charity cycle challenge, has raised £417 during a fundraiser held this weekend.
Raising money for various cancer charities, Katy welcomed friends, family and members of the community to her raffle event held at Toast Coffee House on Saturday.
In total Katy raised £417.06, which will be donated to Great Cancer Care, Ovarian Cancer Action and Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.
Katy will continue to fund raise for these charities when she completes a sponsored cycle ride later in the year.
Top prizes at the raffle included a pair of standard class return tickets on Eurostar as well as a £100 voucher by Brittany Ferries.
Katy expressed thanks to everyone who supported the event, bought raffle tickets and donated prizes.
‘It was a fantastic day with a fantastic turn-out’, said Katy.
‘I want to say thank you to everyone who bought tickets and came to support on the day. I also want to thank all of the businesses and people who donated prizes.
‘Another huge thank you to Toast Coffee House, who allowed me to host the event and were so helpful.’
In May, Katy will be taking part in Ride the Night — a 100k night-time cycle through London.
Katy said the prize raffle event held on Saturday aimed to kick start her fundraising in preparation for her cycle ride.
‘I have not been on a bike in years’, said Katy.
‘I’m now training to juggle training with looking after two little ones. I’m very excited for the challenge but a little nervous.’
Katy said she will be joined on the cycle by ten of her colleagues from Instow Primary School, Bideford.
‘There will be ten of us taking part on May 27 and between us we are hoping to raise as much money for charity as possible!’
