Hundreds of Okehampton residents gathered in Simmons Park last weekend (March 26) to celebrate the coming of spring at a local music charity’s lantern procession.
Okehampton music charity Wren Music hosted its first lantern procession in two years which saw residents march around the park carrying paper lanterns in a range of sizes and shapes, including a giant wasp, hare and bird.
The procession finished by the bandstand with a round of music and dancing, courtesy of Wren Music’s own musicians and the Okehampton Community Dance Project.
Wren Music community musician, Jon Dyer, said: ‘It’s good to be back. It’s a new beginning for Okehampton with the railway so it’s good to be a part of that.’
Wren Music is a charity that works with a wide range of people across the Okehampton area to provide them with the opportunity to get involved in music-making.
