SHEBBEAR College sixth formers took part in a battle of the sexes recently — all as part of a lively debate.
The two debating teams, split into boys and girls, debated on the issue of whether 'a woman's lot is harder than a man's'. The fifth form students also attended as part of their sixth form experience week, and the packed assembly hall audience provided a thought-provoking discussion. Human physiology featured strongly for both sides and conversation covered childbirth, kidney stones and life expectancy.
In the end, the boys were triumphant, with their humorous and well- considered argument. However, the girls debated well and also made some excellent points.
